My story
I’ve spent 20 years as an educator, and I’m also a homeschooling parent. I chose to homeschool because I didn’t want to give up those precious daytime hours with my child, and I believed learning could be more personal, more thoughtful, and more joyful.
Over the years, I’ve sat with so many parents who started out full of hope, then found themselves surrounded by stacks of books and a quiet sense that they were getting it wrong. The problem was never that they cared too little. It was that they were reaching for materials before anyone helped them pause and really see the child in front of them.
I created Altre Learning so families can begin in a more human place: with the child, the family’s reasons, and the atmosphere they want at home. If you’re feeling stuck, you’re not behind. You may simply be starting in the wrong place, and that’s easy to change.
What I believe
Children are people before they are students.
Their curiosity, pace and personality come first. The lessons follow.
